Welcome to the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust. The Plan is a single employer defined benefit pension plan covering all City of Miami general and sanitation employees, except those eligible to decline membership.
The Plan is governed by a nine member board of trustees. The board employs support staff including a pension administrator to oversee the daily functions of the Plan. The board also employs the services of an investment consultant, a consulting actuary, and several investment managers in order to carry out its duties and achieve its goals.
Net assets held in trust for pension benefits were $619,561 million as of September 30, 2014, the end of the last fiscal year. The Trustís membership consisted of 1,546 active members and 2,031 retirees/beneficiaries. The investments of the Plan are diversified into several asset classes including equities, fixed income, real estate, and cash.
