The City of Miami General Employees’ and Sanitation Employees’ Retirement Trust (GESE)

The plan is a single employer defined benefit pension plan covering all City of Miami General and Sanitation employees, except those eligible to opt out of participation in the plan.

The City of Miami General Employees’ and Sanitation Employees’ Retirement Trust (GESE) is a defined benefit pension trust for all City employees and was instituted by the City of Miami Ordinance No. 5624, effective July 1, 1956.

GESE Active Members - Grandfather and granddaughter
Participation in the GESE Trust is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees, except for those eligible to opt out of participation in the plan.
GESE Retired Members - Group of People
Retired members of the General Employees’ and Sanitation Employees’ Retirement Trust receive a monthly pension payment on the 15th of each month.
GESE Other Members - Group of Older People
A General Employees’ and Sanitation Employees’ Retirement Trust member who separates from employment may elect to leave or receive contributions.
